Movember's my favorite month

I went home this past weekend for some much needed R&R and met up with Clare for a photoshoot. I love that woman to death. Lately I've been so caught up in school and social activities that I'd been unimaginative and uncreative. Hanging out with Clare re lit my creative spark and motivated me to put more effort into incorporating these things into my everyday life.
Here's my favorite shots.

Today's my half birthday

It finally cooled down!!!! I'm really pleased that I can wear jeans again and not be dying of heat. It's also good because I've been hella busy this week, tonight is the first night I haven't gone out to do some sport or activity, and that's only because I know I need to stay in and let my body recover from this damned cold I've seem to caught somewhere. Who gets sick in September? Regardless of how I got sick, it is very important that I get better, now. Because tomorrow I'll be driving out to Vancouver to play in an ultimate frisbee tournament this weekend! I joined the ultimate club here at UBCO and we started practices this week and so far I'm loving it. I'm still figuring out all the rules and stuff, but what better way to learn than to play right?!
I'm keeping this short because I really should be studying right now, but I wanted to share a few photos from the past little bit. This first one was taken last week at an organic farm we went to for Sustainability class. It was amazing! From left to right we have Cally, Hailey, myself, and Carmen. The next photo is one I get a kick out of; as you can see Carmen and I are singing Little Lion Man very intensely. Oh, and the jeans I'm wearing are amazing. That was the first time I wore them since I got them at BCBG before I left Calgary. They're great.
Okay, well, I'm off to a study date. Economics 101, awesomeee.

Too hot to touch

I moved to Kelowna last week. It is really hot, all the time. I'm having serious wardrobe issues. I'm unused to this constant heat. What do stylish folks in warm places wear? Better yet, what do stylish folks who are unused to the heat wear when it's hot? As I think about the best resources to look at to find the answers, the best thing that comes to mind is WhoWhatWear. The site shows a lot of celebrity style, which is naturally located frequently in LA and places like it. Fortunately I found an article on transitional styling. Unfortunately, it's still too hot for most of these looks.
My favourite, and the most sensible for my situation is Zoe Saldana here:
Well, maybe I'll just have to stick it out until it cools down, or suddenly I'll figure it all out.
Please help me.

What can I say, it's summer.

I'm a terrible blogger. I make no excuses.

I did a photo shoot today with my friend Clare, who is a very talented model and I'm positive will walk Paris, NYC, Milan, London, and anywhere else she wants in a few years time; I know it embarrasses her when I tell people, but I just think she's so damn talented I have to scream it to the world!
I really want to get better at photography and shooting with Clare today helped immensely.

I might marry him one day

Since I don't like in the States, I cannot vote for this fine young man this evening, so if I have any readers that can vote please do so. I have actually never had a celebrity crush like this before. Holy man.

Friday the thirteenth.

Just thought I'd share a photo with everyone this fine afternoon. As per usual I was messing around with my lovely rebel t1i yesterday and this is one of the results. Also this is one of the shirts I purchased at the last Market Collective and the lovely Jeanine requested I post photos soon, so here is one of them. More to come eventually :)

I Heart MC

Happy Easter everyone; I hope everyone's having a great holiday weekend. I know I am. On thursday night I had a little slumber party with some of my rugby team mates. It wasn't anything too rowdy, just drank some beer (I'm 18 now you see!), watched movies and played pool. We've got some great players on the team this year, so I think it'll be a good one!

Yesterday I went to Market Collective with my good friend Katty. MC is a once a month market featuring local musicians, artists, artisans and interactive areas. It's one of the things I look forward to most each month for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is just the creative atmosphere that the whole event has. I feel inspired as soon as I walk in the door sometimes because the positive energy is so strong. Another reason is the people. I meet someone new every time I go. The types of people that attend is very diverse, but they're all extremely friendly and positive. Katty and I spent hours there, more than I've ever spent before, mostly because of all these fine people. It seemed like we got into an in depth conversation with every second vendor.

One woman we talked to was Tannis Seufert of Quinnilla Designs. Katty and I fell in love with her bags! She uses recycled leather to create the most amazing and unique bags we'd ever seen. Each bag had so much energy to it. Tannis told us that each of her bags had one owner and weren't made for the masses. I thought this was really cool and seemed accurate. While I loved each of the bags she had, I didn't find any of them were my bag. Fortunately for my bank account seeing as I'm currently unemployed.

Daniel Kirk was showing his art at MC as well. His work was very quirky, like him, and puts more importance on the process of creating the piece than the end product. We had a great discussion about the interpretation of art and the creation process. He's a really cool guy that I hope to see at another MC in the future!

There were so many other people I spoke to, but those are the ones whose cards I managed to remember to grab.

One more important reason I love MC is of course for the things to buy!! This month I got quite a few things; three shirts from a booth called Grade 4 (I'm pretty sure that's the name...) which are great, a cute vintage summer dress, and a shirt from Light and Soul Creations that I'd had my eye on for a while. I'll post photos of all these soon. I also love the interactive rooms like the photo booth and the creative room that the science center always has. This weeks was a cardboard forest.
IMG_6147IMG_6119IMG_6112IMG_6131Finally I should mention that the dress I'm wearing in the above photo is one I've been wearing for 40 days(yes I did wash it), ending today. It was a challenge I did with the support of the Youth for Justice club at school. I got the idea from The Uniform Project where a woman wore the same LBD for a whole year. Reading about her inspired me to try it for myself. I'll admit there were days that all I wanted was to put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and once or twice I did just that, but rolled the dress into a scarf and wore it like that. This was a really great experience for me. I go to know my closet much better and was forced into being creative every day, which sometimes I need.
